Shelfy Privacy Policy
Introduction
Shelfy is a collectible collection and marketplace companion app. We built it for collectors who want to browse catalog releases, track what they own, and explore market listings—without turning your shelf into a social network or a data product.
This policy explains what information Shelfy handles, where it stays, and what leaves your device.
Summary
| Topic | What Shelfy does |
|---|---|
| Your collection | Stored on your device only. Not synced to our servers. |
| Your photos | Optional images you choose stay on your device. |
| Accounts | No user accounts or logins. |
| Payments | No in-app purchases or payment processing. |
| Ads | No advertising SDKs enabled today. |
| Selling your data | We do not sell your personal information. |
| Catalog content | Reference data may load from Google Firebase (Firestore & Storage). |
| Official updates | Curated brand announcements (links and images) from Firestore and official or hosted image URLs—not your collection. |
| Market browse | May fetch public listing data from third-party marketplace services when enabled. |
Information we do not collect
Shelfy does not require an account. We do not collect:
- Name, email, or phone number through the app
- Precise location
- Contacts, calendar, or SMS
- Health, financial, or government ID information
- User-to-user messages (no social messaging)
Information stored on your device
Collection data (local only)
Series, ownership status, wishlist marks, and custom entries are saved locally on your phone or tablet. We do not upload your shelf to Firebase or other Shelfy-operated servers.
Uninstalling Shelfy or clearing app data typically removes this information.
Photos you choose (local only)
If you attach a photo to a custom item, it is stored on your device. Personal shelf photos are not uploaded to Firebase Storage.
On-device caches
Catalog images and bundle data may be cached locally for faster offline browsing. Caches can be cleared with app storage or uninstall.
Information loaded from the internet
Firebase (catalog reference only)
Shelfy uses Google Firebase for read-oriented catalog content:
- Cloud Firestore — brands, IPs, series, figures, and official feed items
- Cloud Storage — catalog artwork and, in some cases, curated official-announcement images mirrored for the feed (not your shelf photos)
Google processes network traffic under the Google Privacy Policy. No Shelfy user account is created for this.
Official updates feed
Home may show curated Official updates from Firestore (official_feed_items)—editorial links and product references (for example, POP MART US announcement or product URLs from official Instagram posts). These are not your personal collection.
Cards may load preview images from Firebase Storage, a brand’s official CDN (for example, popmart.com), or similar HTTPS hosts. Tapping an item opens the official destination in your system browser or the relevant app.
Market browse
The Market tab may request public marketplace listing data from configured third-party services. Shelfy is not a checkout flow; purchases happen externally if you follow a link.
External links
Tapping official or market links may open your system browser or another app. Their privacy policies then apply.
Permissions
| Access | Why |
|---|---|
| Internet | Catalog, images, optional market listings, official feed |
| Photos / media (when you pick) | Optional local cover or figure photos for your collection |
Children’s privacy
Shelfy is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. Contact us if you have concerns.
Data retention and deletion
Your collection and photos remain on your device until you remove them, clear app data, or uninstall. There is no per-user cloud shelf account to delete on our servers in the current app version.
Security
We use practices appropriate for a local-first app: on-device storage for personal data, HTTPS for network requests, and Firebase rules for catalog access. Keep your device updated and locked.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will change the Last updated date above. Material changes may appear in Google Play release notes.
